Artistic Swimming

Artistic Swimming is a combination of dance, gymnastics and swimming. It is a great way to get fit, strong, flexible and build your mental and musical skills. It’s also a great way to make new friends and have fun. You will improve your swimming, learn a variety of sculling techniques, ways of moving through the water and figures. You will also combine your new skills with others as part of a team or duet, learning and performing a 3 minute choreographed routine to music which is played through underwater speakers.

The EDSC Artistic Swimming Programme comprises of 3 squads with a capacity for 75 athletes.

Our programme sees us training at the following local swimming pools: White Oak Leisure Centre and Fairfield Leisure Centre.

Children are able to start their swimming careers in our Artistic Academy from the age of 6 and have the potential to grow and move through our programme as they progress. Successful progression will see them move through our squads as follows: Artistic Academy > Artistic Pre-Competitive > Artistic Competitive

Commitment from the athlete, their parents / carers and the coaching team will drive progress and this collective investment should not be under-estimated.

Attendance at 75% of sessions is expected at all times. Those achieving and exceeding this minimum will naturally develop and progress faster than those not achieving.

All EDSC athletes pay an "Annual Membership fee" which is due on joining the Club and annually on the 1st February. Athletes are also required to pay a monthly squad fee and details of these can be viewed here: EDSC Swimming Fees 2026.pdf

The EDSC Artistic Swimming Team participate in competitions throughout the year and we aim to get every athlete competing for and representing our Club. Our competition programme comprises of:

  • Grading Days.
  • County Championships.
  • Regional Championships.
  • National Championships.
