Competitive Swimming Programme.

The EDSC Competitive Swimming Programme comprises of 9 squads with a capacity for 210 athletes.

Our programme sees squads training at the following local swimming pools: Erith Leisure Centre, Crook Log Leisure Centre, Thamesmere Leisure Centre, Charlton Lido and Dartford Grammar School for Girls. 

Following an initial trial ( Request a trial ) athletes are able to start their swimming careers with us in our Development Squads from the age of 6. They then have the potential to grow and move through our programme. Successful progression will see them move through our squads as follows:

Development > Academy > Bronze > Silver > Gold > County > Regional / Red > National / Red.

Commitment from the athlete, their parents / carers and the coaching team will drive progress and this collective investment should not be under-estimated.

Attendance at 75% of sessions is expected at all times. Those achieving and exceeding this minimum will naturally develop and progress faster than those not achieving.

All EDSC athletes pay an "Annual Membership fee" which is due on joining the Club and annually on the 1st February. Athletes are also required to pay a monthly squad fee and details of these can be viewed here: EDSC Swimming Fees 2026.pdf

EDSC participate in swimming competitions throughout the year and we aim to get every athlete competing for and representing our Club on a regular basis. Our competition programme comprises of:

  • EDSC time trial sessions; for those just starting out.
  • EDSC Club Championships; for those in Bronze Squad and up, which are held annually throughout the summer months
  • League team galas; The National Arena League, The White Horse League, The Tudor League and The Kent Junior League. Our league gala selection policy can be viewed here: EDSC Guide to Leagues.pdf
  • A full "open meet" programme which takes us to competitions across the region for days and weekends
  • County, Regional and National Championships which run throughout the year. 

Every competitive swim time achieved is recorded within Swim Club Manager and swimmers are able to log into their own portal via the EDSC website and track their progress ( SwimClub Manager ). Times achieved at Swim England licensed competitions are also stored and published in Aquatics GB Rankings database. Swimmers can use this to review where they are ranked for their age group across the county, the region or the nation.

Coaching at EDSC is led by Head Coach; Damian Edmonds and Development Coach; Paul Graimes. Both are supported by our amazing team of Assistant Coaches: Barry Cusselle, Emma Savage, Kate Timmins, Evie Bradburn and Sue Wilding.
